PM Narendra Modi Inaugurates Indore Metro

Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated Indore Metro’s Super Priority Corridor on Saturday from Bhopal. A local ceremony was held at Gandhi Nagar Metro Station.

2/8

Stainless steel coaches

Indore Metro deployed rustproof stainless steel coaches. Thirteen trains with three coaches each (67m long) arrived, with the first and last cars serving as driving units.

3/8

Safety and comfort features

Coaches featured LED TVs, route maps, emergency buttons, and audio systems. For safety, 150 ex-servicemen were stationed across the Metro network, ensuring security and assistance.

4/8

Historic shift in transport

Indore, which once relied on tangas, bullock carts, and cycles, marked a leap in its 150-year transport history with the official launch of modern metro services.

5/8

Super priority corridor

The 6km corridor, with 5 stations, was launched to reduce traffic, cut pollution, and offer a cleaner, faster, and more comfortable travel option for Indore commuters.

6/8

Yellow line project unfold

The full Yellow Line spans 31.32km with 28 stations, combining elevated and underground routes. The project is valued at Rs 7500 crore, with Rs 1520 crore spent on the first stretch.

7/8

Third-rail system operational

The Metro adopted a third-rail system for power supply, avoiding overhead lines. This ensured safer operations and enabled smooth flyover construction, like at Luvkush Square.

8/8

Free rides and discounts

Indore Metro offered free QR ticket rides in the first week post-launch. Fares (Rs 20–Rs 30) resumed with a 75% discount in week two, 50% in week three, and 25% till month three.
