Govt office gets bomb hoax mail

Bhopal: After AIIMS, a hospital and three other govt offices, the weights and measures department in MP Nagar allegedly received a hoax email on Monday morning. The email threatened to blow up the premises using cyanide gas bombs. The message created panic at the office, and employees were immediately evacuated from the building as a precautionary measure. Police officials said that the email claimed that 16 cylinders filled with cyanide gas were planted inside the premises and would explode simultaneously at around 1 pm. Officials immediately alerted the police after receiving the email.Teams from MP Nagar police station, along with the bomb disposal and diffusion squad, dog squad, and other security agencies, rushed to the spot. MP Nagar SHO Jai Hind Sharma said the BDDS team conducted a thorough inspection of the building, including offices, storage rooms, and surrounding areas, for nearly 2 hours. However, no suspicious cylinders or explosive materials were found during the search. A preliminary probe confirmed the threat email was a hoax.This was the third such threat in recent days in the city. Police have now launched an investigation along with the cyber-crime branch to identify the sender.
