Farmer’s body found in Kerwa river

Bhopal: Body of a 45- year-old farmer, who had left home to graze cattle was recovered from Kerwa river in Kolar locality in the wee hours of Saturday. Fishes and aquatic animals ate away part of his nose, ears and skin around eyes and lips. Investigating officer SI Ravindra Chokle said that the deceased Pawan Singh Lodhi, 45, a resident of Suraiya Nagar village in Kolar, left his house around 8 am on Friday to graze cattle. When he didn’t return till afternoon, his family members and villagers went to search for him and found the cattle grazing near Kerwa river, which they brought back home. Later, his son Gaurav and nephew Sourabh along with villagers went to search for him again. When they eached Kerwa river, they found Pawan Singh lying in the water, the SI said. They took the body out, took it home and informed the police. Acting on information, Kolar police reached the spot and registered a case. The body was sent for a post-mortem. Police were waiting for the report to ascertain the actual cause of death. Prima facie it is suspected that either he suffered a heart attack or was bit by a poisonous insect due to which he fell in water and died. SI Chokle said that it was not clear how Pawan fell into the river. The body was handed over to the family after post-mortem. Further investigations are underway. tnn
