Debt-ridden married woman raped in Berasia

Bhopal: A 35-year-old married woman was allegedly being raped by an accused from whom her husband had borrowed money. When she protested, the accused threatened her to return the money her husband took from him and repeatedly raped her for the past seven months. Fed up of the regular harassment, the woman finally mustered courage and refused to make sexual relations with him. However, the accused, identified as Vivek Saxena, barged into her house and assaulted her. The survivor narrated the incident to her husband and the family approached Berasia police to lodge a complaint. Berasia police said a case has been registered.

Police said that the survivor is a housewife while her husband runs a workshop. The couple have two children. Accused Saxena had loaned money to the survivor’s husband and was demanding back. Her husband was not able to return the money back. On January 8, when the survivor’s husband went to Banaras, Saxena took her to another house in Bhanpur where he raped her. He also threatened to kill her husband and children if she refused. Later, when her daughter intervened, Saxena beat her up too, Berasia police said.
