Bhopal: A relative of former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Uma Bharti was allegedly threatened with dire consequences, after a social media post triggered an abusive and threatening response, followed by a late-night incident outside her residence in Tikamgarh.According to the complaint, district panchayat president Umita Rahul Lodhi shared a post on social media on Feb 21. The matter escalated the same night after two unidentified persons reportedly reached her house. The duo allegedly abused and threatened the family before fleeing the spot. Their identities could not be ascertained as they left before any intervention.Following the incident, Umita Lodhi approached the Dehat police station on February 23 and submitted a written complaint, detailing both the online threat and the late-night incident at her residence. Acting on the complaint, police registered a case against unidentified persons and initiated an investigation.Police said both angles — the threatening comment on the social media post and the appearance of unidentified persons at the house — were being examined closely.
"On the basis of the complaint, a case was registered against unidentified persons. We are seeking the help of the cyber cell to identify the person who posted the comment. Whether the ones who reached their house were the same persons who made the comment is also a part of the investigation. Things will be clear once the investigation is over," Tikamgarh Dehat police station in-charge, Chandrajeet Yadav, told TOI.
