CM: Katni will get Rs1,000-cr projects, med college

Bhopal: CM Mohan Yadav on Saturday announced development works worth Rs 1,000 crore for Katni district and reiterated the govt's focus on expanding irrigation, housing and welfare schemes for rural families.Addressing the Kisan Mahotsav in Barhi, Yadav inaugurated and performed bhoomi poojan for 97 projects worth Rs 243 crore in Vijayraghavgarh, and said the state was committed to the prosperity of farmers.He said irrigation coverage in the state had increased to 55 lakh hectares over the past two years and the govt aimed to expand it to 100 lakh hectares in the coming years. Farmers, he added, would also receive electricity for irrigation during the daytime.Yadav said employment-oriented industrial units worth Rs 9 lakh crore are being established in the state. Madhya Pradesh has become one of the fastest-growing states in the country. The unemployment rate in the state is lower than the national average.Yadav said to ensure that rural families have permanent houses, a new survey will soon begin. tnn
