BHOPAL: To help underprivileged children refrain from begging, the city Childline in TT Nagar has started teaching kids of the nearby slums who are admitted in government schools, but are unable to take online classes in the wake of the
coronavirus pandemic.
The staff call the children to Chidline in batches of five, giving them masks and teaching them from the books distributed to them by the school education department.
Director, City Childline, Archana Sahaye, said that the children had books, but there was no one to teach them. As they were not going to school and could not attend online classes, it gave them the advantage to loiter around and beg if they wanted to have chips or sweets or street food, without their parents’ knowledge.
The children were given the books for the new class earlier this month, after which the Childline team asked them to bring their books and notebooks to Childline every day. They fixed their time between 2 pm and 5 pm every day, in batches of 5 to 6 children.
