Cheetah unwell, vets scrambled to Kuno Wildlife Sanctuary in Sheopur

The Madhya Pradesh department has dispatched an emergency medical response team to Kuno Wildlife Sanctuary in Sheopur district after a female cheetah was diagnosed with a serious medical condition, sources told TOI.

BHOPAL: TheMadhya Pradesh department has dispatched an emergency medical response team to Kuno Wildlife Sanctuary in Sheopur district after a female cheetah was diagnosed with a serious medical condition, sources told TOI.
Preliminary assessments of cheetah Sasha show symptoms of dehydration and renal disease, sources say. A team of veterinarians, led by Dr Atul Gupta, the lead vet of Van Vihar National Park, has been sent to Kuno from Bhopal (350km away).

Asked about it, the state’s chief wildlife warden, J S Chauhan, told TOI that the cheetah is doing well.
Other officers said that Sasha is doing better after fluids were administered.
Airlifted to Kuno along with seven other cheetahs on September 17, she was adapting to her new home in India, and doing well under the watch of WII-Dehradun and MP forest department staff.
Experts say chronic kidney disease is common among cheetahs. All eight cheetahs have been in hunting enclosures at Kuno National Park since November last year.
