CBI turns spotlight on Twisha’s pregnancy, abortion, psychiatric records
Bhopal: CBI team probing the death of model-turned-actor Twisha Sharma, 33, are expected to scrutinise her pregnancy and its medical termination, viewing the matter as a key element in efforts to reconstruct events leading to her death.
Twisha, daughter-in-law of retired judge Giribala Singh, was found dead at her marital home in Bhopal’s Katara Hills on May 12. Her in-laws alleged she died by suicide, while her parents have accused them of murder following prolonged dowry harassment. Her husband Samarth Singh and mother-in-law have been arrested.
Sources familiar with the probe said investigators are likely to summon a doctor who allegedly carried out Twisha’s medical termination of pregnancy and a psychiatrist who examined her shortly before her death.
CBI is expected to review medical records, establish a timeline of the pregnancy and termination, and examine consent-related issues and interactions involving Twisha, her relatives and medical professionals. Investigators are assessing whether circumstances surrounding the MTP contributed to emotional distress or provide clues relevant to the case.
CBI is also expected to seek details from the psychiatrist regarding Twisha’s mental and emotional condition in the days before her death, including any signs of trauma, distress or behavioural changes.
