Tension in Bhopal after 'cattle remains' found near temple; right-wing organisations protest, block traffic
BHOPAL: Tension gripped the area near the Kali Temple close to Talaiya police station late Sunday night after cattle remains were allegedly found in a white sack on the road near Neelam Park. The discovery sparked protests by members of Hindu organisations, who claimed the remains were of a cow and demanded immediate action.A large group gathered at the nearby bridge (Pul Pukhta), raising slogans. The situation escalated when they started marching towards the Talaiya police station. On receiving information, heavy police force, along with senior officials, reached the spot and tried to pacify the crowd. Subsequently, protesters staged a sit-in on the bridge, blocking the traffic for nearly one-and-a-half hours. Authorities assured the protesters that those responsible would be identified and arrested soon, after which the road blockade ended. Police said that the remains have been sent to a veterinary hospital for post-mortem, and the report is awaited. Talaiya police have registered an FIR against unidentified persons under relevant sections and launched an investigation.tnn
