BHOPAL: Barkatullah University’s vice-chancellor, Prof Nisha Dubey and Barkatullah University Teachers’ Union (BUTA) are in a face-off over the promotion and arrears issues. BUTA is all set to hold its general body meeting on Wednesday to take a final call about going on strike.
BUTA alleged that the association approached the BU authorities regarding the issue but did not get any positive response.
“We approached the vice-chancellor but she was not ready to listen”, BUTA president, Prof Yadav alleged.
He further alleged that the university has been neglecting several promotions which are against the norms of UGC guidelines.
“The Executive Council had approved the promotions of several professors but nothing has done so far. When the EC has already taken the decision, the administration should not hesitate to implement it”, he added.
BUTA claimed that university’s neglect towards its employees is forcing them to go on strike. “We do not want any disturbance in the normal functioning of the university. However, the university authorities are forcing us to on agitation”, Yadav added.
The association is demanding disbursement of 20 per cent arrears from 2006 to 2008 and cash payment from 2008. “We have been told that the arrears will not be disbursed. We want the university administration to do a re-think to avoid a strike”, Yadav added.
Vice-chancellor, Prof Nisha Dubey, did not respond even after repeated efforts to get her comments on the situation.
