Earlier probing in-laws, cops now file FIR against dead woman
Bhopal: The Gunga police on Tuesday registered a murder case against a 27-year-old woman who allegedly jumped into a well with her 15-month-old son, resulting in their deaths.
Initially, a case was registered against the in-laws based on statements from the dead woman's family. However, after further investigation, the police have now charged the deceased mother with the murder of her child.
Gunga SHO Harishankar Verma said that deceased Sangeeta Kushwaha was a resident of Nalakheda village near Harsiddhi Mata Temple in Berasia. She was married three years ago to Sunil Kushwaha, a farmer residing in Gunga.
SHO Verma said that their home is adjacent to farmland, 50 metres away is an uncovered well with a platform where daily prayers are conducted. Sangeeta had a routine of bathing and then offering prayers at the platform. On Oct 5 at around 12:30pm, she took her son to the platform and jumped into the well, resulting in their deaths.
