: After a spurt in Covid-19 cases in Morena, the curfew was extended in the municipal limits of the district on Thursday.
“The curfew will last till the Kill Corona campaign,” an order issued by the district collector Priyanka Das said. In the last three days, the city has turned into a new hotspot of the pandemic.
The fortnight-long ‘Kill Corona Campaign’ was launched in the state on July 1.
In the last three days, there was a sudden spurt in the positive cases of coronavirus. More than 175 new cases were detected — with 76 cases being reported on Tuesday alone. After a review of the situation in Morena, the district administration extended the three-day-long curfew ending today to 15 more days. “Essential services like medicines, banks, fuel stations and vegetables, among others, will be available,” the order issued by the collector said. She said that “the curfew will be implemented strictly”.
Divisional commissioner of Chambal, RK Mishra said, “Cross-border business ties with Dholpur near Morena seems to be the main reason behind the spurt in the cases of corona.”
The border of the district will also be sealed.
