Bhopal: 350 counterfeit NCERT books were recovered by Kotwali police and an NCERT inspection team from a bookshop on Sultania Road on Tuesday afternoon
A tip-off informed the inspection team that the shop owner was allegedly selling duplicate NCERT textbooks for Classes 9, 10, 11, and 12.
Police said the NCERT team received information that counterfeit versions of NCERT books were being sold. Cops recovered 49 different types of pirated books for Classes 9 to 12, all being sold under the NCERT name. The accused, identified as Amit Khandelwal, 37, a resident of Kotwali Road, was booked under sections of the Copyright Act. The FIR was filed based on an application submitted by the assistant production officer of the NCERT inspection team, Prakash Veer Singh. The seized books are estimated to be worth Rs 41,000.
