Bhopal: A 12-year-old girl was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Shahjehanabad, with initial reports suggesting electrocution as the cause. Police said that the exact cause of death will be determined following the post-mortem report.
According to the police, the deceased Soumya (12) lived in Sanjay Nagar near Gokuldas Square. She was a class 7 student at a private school. Her father Deepak Hajariya is a driver in the municipal corporation. On Thursday around 8 pm, Deepak was attending a programme at a Ganesh procession when his younger son Himanshu told him that Soumya was lying unconscious on the first floor of their house. The family rushed her to a private hospital in Fatehgarh, where doctors declared her dead upon arrival.
The police said that construction work was ongoing at the family's residence, and it is suspected that Soumya may have been electrocuted by a live wire used for a light bulb installation. However, the exact cause of death will be confirmed once the post-mortem report is received. Further investigations are on.
