1.67L cases with awards worth Rs 628cr settled in year’s first Lok Adalat
Bhopal: The first Lok Adalat held in 2026 saw 1.25 lakh pre litigation cases and 42,000 pending cases being settled involving a total award of Rs 628 crore to litigants.Registrar at the MP high court Legal Aid Authority, Archana Singh, said that 1,618 courts were set up for arbitration during the Lok Adalat, including 8 benches of high court at Jabalpur, Indore and Gwalior. More than 1.67 lakh cases were disposed of through mutual consent across Madhya Pradesh.She said the courts, in accordance with their jurisdiction, disposed of writ petitions, civil revision cases, second appeal cases, marital disputes, cases relating to compoundable offences, cheque bounce cases, labour dispute cases, bank recovery cases, accident claim cases and disputed electricity and water bill cases.
