BANGALORE: Lok Ayukta Vigilance Director K.V. Vasudeva Murthy has assumed charge to check corruption, red-tapism, slow movement of files and abuse of power in the BCC, BDA and BWSSB offices.

bangalore: lok ayukta vigilance director k.v. vasudeva murthy has assumed charge to check corruption, red-tapism, slow movement of files and abuse of power in the bcc, bda and bwssb offices. he has started functioning from the bcc office premises -- 2nd floor, town planning department building, bcc main office, n.r. square. ph: 2221482. vasudeva murthy has been empowered to attend to complaints of corruption by doing spot inspections, demand reasons for slow movement of files, seize papers in case of irregularities, question officials about allegations of abuse of power, favouritism, high-handedness and any kind of public harassment.

the vigilance director can also order for departmental inquiries, conduct hearing and dispose of cases. this is aimed at reducing piling up of cases for investigation before the lok ayukta. vasudeva murthy was a former secretary to the karnataka legal aid board, district judge and registrar national environment appellate authority, new delhi.
