Viani in sole lead after Round 7

Bengaluru: International Master Viani Antonio Dcunha emerged as the sole leader after the seventh round at the Akshayakalpa Organic-State Open FIDE-rated chess championship here on Monday.Playing black, Dcunha defeated Augustin A to garner seven points. Dcunha shared the lead with three others — FM Sharan Rao, Parthasarathy R and Augustin A — after the sixth round.On the second board in the seventh round, Parthasarathy held Sharan to a draw while on the third board Prajwal Shet P played out a draw with Grandmaster Thejkumar MS. A Amith too had a good run, drawing with FM Niranjan Navalgund on the sixth board.Results (Round 7): Augustin A (6) lost to Viani Antonio Dcunha (7); Parthasarathy R (6.5) drew with Sharan Rao (6.5); Thejkumar MS (6) drew with Prajwal Shet P (6); Likhit Chilukuri (5.5) lost to Yashas D (6.5); Apoorv Kamble (6) bt Pranav AJ (5.5); Niranjan Navalgund (5.5) drew with Amith A (5.5); Rishabh Kumara (5) lost to Sudarshan Bhat (6).
