Uttarakhand pilgrims continue their journey in Uttarakhand

BENGALURU: The pilgrims from Karnataka who got stranded at the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand after a cloud burst at Tehri district resulted in massive rain on Saturday have all been reported to be safe.

The 150 pilgrims from Karnataka are in three to four groups each consisting of around 50 people in different busses. On Monday morning around 6.30 am, their buses were able to move from the Chamoli district and continue their journey towards Kedarnath.

The pilgrims speaking to TOI said that they faced trouble in Chamoli district because there was no electricity and water for more than 40 hours and as a reason the pilgrims were not able to contact their near and dear ones and did not have access to toilet and bathroom facility.

Officials from Uttarakhand government have assured the pilgrims that the weather conditions are better now and if they wish they can continue their journey to Kedarnath. Most of the pilgrims have decided to go forth and complete their Char Dham Yatra.

“The 40 hours at Chamoli district were really difficult because there was no electricity and water. We couldn’t charge our mobile phones and there was no water even to attend nature’s call. We had go to the river and take bath. By 6.15 in the morning our bus started moving moved and we are only 40 kms from Kedarnath. All of us have decided to continue with the journey and complete our Char Dham” said Kailash Chnadra Prajapati, a resident of KR Puram.

The weather is all clear now and we don’t see any risk is going forward said 70 year old Temaram.

“I spoke to my mother in the morning and she said that they would continue with the journey as the other pilgrims are also convinced that they all should go ahead and complete their journey. The only difficulty was surviving more than 40 hours without electricity” said Rajendra Singh whose mother and relatives left for the Char Dham on Saturday.

The revenue department control room has also confirmed the situation to be under control and most of the buses carrying the pilgrims that were stranded at Chamoli have moved towards Kedarnath in the morning.
