BANGALORE: Jnanpith laureate U R Ananthamurthy, who was admitted to Manipal Hospital for chest infection last week, is expected to be discharged on Saturday.
Ananthamurthy was admitted to the hospital with fever, cough and breathing difficulties. He was, at first, tested for H1N1, which turned out to be negative. Later, he was under put under medication for one week till all the problems were cleared.
"Ananthamurthy is my patient for the past 10 years.
He has diabetes, kidney and heart problems. This time, it was a common chest infection. He has recovered and will be discharged on Saturday,'' said Dr Sudarshan Ballal, chairman, medical advisory board, Manipal Health System. Ananthamurthy has been advised to "take it easy" for the next few days and return next week for a follow-up check-up.
