Unnathi, Joel collect silver
Bengaluru: AT Daneshwari failed to repeat her gold winning performance in the second leg of the Indian Grand Prix meet as she settled for the bronze in women’s 100m in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday. The Karnataka athlete then bagged the silver in the 200m behind Tamil Nadu’s Archana Suseendran who bagged a sprint double.Daneshwari clocked 11.80s in the 100m to finish behind Archana (11.52s) and Hima Das (11.74). Last week, she ran 11.76 to beat Archana for the gold. In the 200m final, Daneshwari timed 24.13 against Archana’s winning effort of 23.21 seconds.In the men's 400m race, Karnataka’s Nihal Joel won the silver in 47.24 seconds behind Kerala’s Muhammed Ajmal (46.65s). Another impressive young performer was Unnathi Aiyappa who bagged the silver in 100m hurdles. Unnathi clocked 13.96 seconds. Maharashtra’s Pranjali Dilip Patil took the gold in 13.84 seconds.
