BANGALORE: Thinking beyond medicine or engineering for a career option? Get ready to attend a two-day seminar at St Joseph's Boys' High School, Museum Road, beginning May 22.
Organized by the Times of India, the seminar, Mission Admission, will help students who have given the Class 12 exam make an informed decision about their career. While the first day of the seminar will focus on alternative careers, the second day will have sessions on overseas education.
The sessions will start with Uma Gopalakrishnan, director, Institutional Alliances, Admizzionz Campuz giving students a snapshot on new-age careers. Sridhar Ramanujam, founder, Brand-comm, will speak on advertizing and public relations and Kavita Saluja and Nilanajana Bairagi, faculty at NIFT, will speak on careers in design. There will be sessions on photography by Hellmuth Conz, on health care by Sofia Joseph, HR manager, Fortis Hospitals, and on hospitality by Rahul Sharma, zonal head, west and south, Kuoni Academy. Actor, director and journalist Prakash Belawadi will speak on jobs in media and entertainment.
The second day of the seminar will kick off with an introduction to undergraduate education overseas by Prab Singh, founder, CollegeSource. A session on studying in the US will be held by Anuradha Shastry, adviser, Yashna Trust-EducationUSA. While Ugandhar Kothwal, asst manager, British Council Library, will speak on studying in the UK, Kyle Nunas, consul and senior trade commissioner, Consulate General of Canada, will talk about pursuing higher education in Canada.
