Five-year-old girl drowns in sump

Bengaluru: A five-year-old girl playing near her house accidentally drowned in a sump at Bagalagunte, northwest Bengaluru, Wednesday. The victim, Shahida Banu, was the fourth daughter of mason Syed Hussain and homemaker Nastina Banu from Mallasandra. The tragedy occurred at 6pm when Shahida went missing. “Nastina had last seen her daughter playing outside the house. They searched for her and finally found her inside the sump of a neighbouring house. They shifted her to a hospital but doctors declared her brought dead,” a police officer said. tnn
