BANGALORE: Another example of paying tribute to gurus in an exclusive way! Over 4,000 teachers from the 160-odd schools in Jayanagar assembly constituency were greeted by the local MLA on Teachers' Day.
For the second time, MLA B N Vijayakumar visited all educational institutes, -- primary, secondary and high schools, and colleges -- and presented teachers with a card and a rose.

He also gave away awards to winners of a paper presentation competition, `Teacher's role in nation-building', organized on September 1.
A number of other schools celebrated the day with zest. Schools where the senior classes were busy with internal exams celebrated in the evening. "We are having our first term exams. Students of Classes X and XII were not part of the event. But once we reopen after the Dasara holidays, we will celebrate the day all over again," said Dharamveer, a student of Bishop Cotton Boys' School.
Christu Jayanti College will gift teachers with a video clip of their lives, said Pinto, a student of Christu Jayanti College.
