Teacher on poll duty suspended for neta selfies

Bengaluru: Clicking selfies with politicians and posting them on social media proved costly for a physical education teacher from government PU college, Nelamangala. The teacher, who had been posted with a static surveillance team (SST) at Soluru on NH-75, has now been suspended for allegedly violating the election code of conduct.
Bengaluru Rural deputy commissioner R Latha confirmed to TOI that she suspended the teacher — Anjan Kumar BJ — on Sunday for taking selfies with politicians at Soluru election checkpost near Nelamangala.
According to the suspension order, Anjan was chief of the SST at the checkpost. His shift was from 2pm to 10pm. He would take selfies with representatives of a party at the checkpost and later upload them on social media. The assistant election officer of Nelamangala submitted a report seeking disciplinary action against Anjan. Officials refused to reveal details of the politicians with whom Anjan took selfies.
