Man steals 57 laptops from Bengaluru firm to clear debt, lands in soup

BENGALURU: A 29-year-old man working as system admin staff at a private company was arrested by Whitefield police for stealing laptops from his firm.

The police have recovered about 50 laptops worth Rs 22 lakh from suspect, Murugesh from Hosur in Tamil Nadu. Telecaller India Pvt Ltd in ITPL, had lodged a complaint against Murugesh on Aug 30.

Murugesh had joined the firm in Feb this year. He stopped attending work from Aug 22. He had stolen around 57 laptops on multiple occasions. The police nabbed Murugesh from Hosur on Sept 2. Later, they took him into police custody and recovered the laptops from a laptop sales and service store in Hosur.

During interrogation, BCA graduate Murugesh claimed that he had sustained a loss after growing tomatoes on his agricultural land and was in debt. He was stealing the laptops and disposing of them to clear the debt.
