Speeding up to recovery

BANGALORE: It was another successful attempt by Guinness and Limca Book of Records holder S Ramesh Babu. The 52-year-old wrapped 97 notebooks in one hour at the NITTE International School on Monday.
Ramesh said he could have wrapped 100 notebooks, but for a problem with the binding tape dispenser. The wrapping was done manually, without any assistance.
The procedure included 40 sub-steps like picking the book from an arranged stack; picking the brown paper from a pre-arranged stack; placing the book symmetrically on the paper; creasing the paper on three sides; cutting the paper at four places, folding the wrapping sheet tightly and symmetrically, and taping at six places.
Digital stop watches were used by officials monitoring the log-book entries. The feat was monitored by three persons.
Babu, a scientist, has 36 records to his name such as longest and non-stop rallies in table tennis, lawn tennis and shuttle badminton, skipping, gardening and marathon carrom.
"This record is a birthday gift to my daughter, Sangeeta, who turned 18 on December 22," Babu said.
