BENGALURU: A day after he was arrested on drug-consumption charges and released on bail, actor and DJ Siddhanth Kapoor on Tuesday appeared before Bengaluru police for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.
Siddhanth quizzed; cops sayhe consumed cocaine, ganja
Police confirmed that Siddhanth’s medical test report showed he had consumed cocaine and ganja. But he was tight-lipped about anything related to the drugs. Siddhanth, son of Bollywood actor Shakti Kapoor and brother of actress Shraddha Kapoor, was arrested along with four other accused after police raided a five-star hotel where a party was under way late Sunday night. The other four are Akhil Soni, 28, business manager with a private firm; Harjoth Singh, 28, operational head of a logistics firm; Akhil, 23, a freelance photographer, and Hani Rafeeque, 25, who is into digital marketing. Siddhanth appeared for questioning in response to a notice police issued to him at the time of his release late Monday. He reached Ulsoor police station by 11.45am, and a team headed by inspector M Manjunath quizzed him about the party, source of the drugs he had consumed and other details. The questioning was completed by 4.30pm and Siddhanth left by 5pm.“All the questions they need to know, I have answered. If they need me again, I will come back.
Bengaluru police are doing a great job. They should continue doing so to save many lives,” Siddhanth told reporters outside the police station. An investigation officer said they have issued notices to the other four, asking them to appear for questioning on different dates. Deputy commissioner of police (east) Bheemashankar S Guled said all five accused “were released on station bail” and are required to appear before police as and when summoned. As reported by TOI earlier, Siddhanth was the DJ at the party. Ulsoor police raided the hotel based on a tipoff about the use of banned substances. There were more than 100 people at the party, some of whom escaped. Police managed to round up 35 people. Urine tests of five of them, including Siddhanth, confirmed drug consumption. “Siddhanth’s medical test confirmed he had consumed cocaine and ganja,” said Guled.Police sources said Siddhanth was described as BULLZEYE DJ on social media, and WhatsApp messages about him coming for the party had been circulated. Siddhanth claimed he had no knowledge about the drugs and told interrogators that someone offered him a drink while he was DJing, and another person offered him a cigarette. He had them and didn’t know how he consumed drugs. Police have sent mobiles phones seized from the five accused to the Forensic Science Laboratory to retrieve the data. They have also collected the ledger from the hotel and are verifying the guest list.
