BENGALURU: Security personnel at

CM HD Kumaraswamy

's official residence 'Krishna' went into a tizzy on Saturday after a golf ball from the nearby Bangalore Golf Club hit the windscreen of an IPS officer's car. Though no one was injured in the incident, home minister G Parameshwara called it a "security risk" and said he'll hold talks with officials on moving the course to another location.

The damaged MUV belongs to additional commissioner of police (east) Seemanth Kumar Singh, who had come to the CM's residence for a meeting with citizen groups on measures to develop Bengaluru and make it safe. A few drivers of other vehicles were standing near the MUV when the ball hit the windscreen and bounced into the garden.

"I was leaning on the vehicle and suddenly heard a thud. When I looked around, I saw the windscreen cracked and the golf ball near the vehicle. The ball could have caused us serious injury. The staff at 'Krishna' told us it was a golf ball from the course opposite the CM's residence," a driver who witnessed the incident told TOI.

A golf ball had hit a person who had come to visit Kumaraswamy during his previous stint as CM in 2006. The staff at Krishna maintained it was a common problem. "Golf balls from the course fall all over here - on the terrace, near the parking lot, near the lobby, among other places. Such incidents happen more during weekends," they said. "It was a freak incident which happens rarely. Keeping in mind safety aspects, we have put up huge nets and we'll take more security measures. We'll also reimburse damage done to the vehicle," said Shiv Pradeep, captain of Bangalore Golf Club.
