The rape and murder of Prathibha Srikanth Murthy, the Wednesday terror attack, and the year-end bash has created a mad demand for security guards.

BANGALORE: In a bylane of Commercial Street, Mohammed mia and his men are furiously working at their sewing machines, churning out uniforms for security guards.
Their assignment: 2,600 uniforms for the newly recruited security personnel. Deadline: Friday evening The city's turned a jitterbug.

From call centres to software companies to shopping malls to hotels, hiring security agencies or sprucing up the existing man power seems to be the order of the day.Apart from uniformed men, metal detectors, cameras, CCTVs and sniffer dogs too are in great demand.

"Apart from at least a dozen fresh clients that we have received in the last two days, even our existing clients want two more officers to be deployed.
We have got cases of getting the background of taxi drivers by some call centres. At Safina Plaza and several pizza outlets too, we have been asked to provide more men," said A B Jagirdar, manager (admin) of Black Belt Commandos Security System.
In fact so much is the demand that security agencies are all out on a recruiting spree. "In a week we have appointed at least 50 new people and we'll need many more. We get some good hands from Bijapur, Belgaum and Shimoga and then they undergo training," he added.

Similarly, Flags 4 Security Service has received innumerable requests for round-thecall security service from various organisations located at Electronic city, Hosur Road, from various hotels and shopping centres, said manager J Naik.
Under the strobe light and loud celebrations, security men will run amok across Bangalore and the beeps of the metal detectors will just add to the 'music'.
