Sainika is Kannada nominee for RACE award

<div class="section1"><div class="Normal">BANGALORE: The Rajkamal Academy of Cinematic Excellence (RACE) on Monday announced the nominees for regional awards. These nominees will compete for national honours.<br />Rahul Shantaram, grandson of veteran filmmaker V. Shantaram, and president of RACE, said the awards would be announced in Mumbai on November 18 — Shantaram''s birthday.<br />Noted Kannada film director K.S.L.Swamy, who is a member of the Board of Governors of the Academy, told reporters that the unique feature of the awards, formerly known as V. Shantaram awards, is that they are not restricted to any language. <br />The national awards will be adjudicated by the 56 members of the Academy who are veterans of the film industry by secret ballot. The process of judging the awards is monitored by Pricewaterhouse Cooper.<br />The regional nominees too were selected by secret ballot. The Kannada nominees are: Best film <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Sainika,</span> best director V. Ravichandran (<span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Ekangi</span>), best actor Vishnuvardhan (<span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Parva</span>) and best actress Prema (<span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Parva</span>).<br />The best film at the national level will win Rs 1 lakh and a gold trophy; the second best film Rs 50,000 and a silver trophy and the third best film Rs 25,000 and a bronze trophy.<br />Another unique feature of the awards is that remakes too can compete in the best actor/actress and best technician categories.<br />Those films which are released between October 31 and September 30 are eligible to compete for the awards.</div> </div>
