Research to get a new design

BANGALORE: The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) intends to develop different branches of research in design and ensure inter-disciplinary coordination.
Assistant director N Balakrishnan, deliberated on the issues of complex designing in latest technologies. Speaking at the International Conference on Research in Design (ICoRD '09), he felt complex engineering system departments, similar to those present in the US, should be replicated.
Kota Harinarayana, chairman, steering committee of the conference, said the traditional way of design and research is not enough."We should find a new way of conducting research. There is a paradigm shift in global design methods. To compete with the world, we need to do something more,'' he explained.
The three-day international conference includes podium and poster sessions, and a panel discussion on education.
