Records tumble at Belagavi

Bengaluru: Six new state meet records were set on Day 3 of the State sub-junior and junior aquatics championship at the Suvarna JNMC swimming pool in Belagavi on Friday. Ishaan Mehra, A Jedidah, Ridhima Veerendrakumar, S Lakshya, Manavi Verma and Dhinidhi Desinghu were the record-breakers on the day. Manavi from Dolphin Aquatics, who won the 200m medley in 2:29.61 minutes in the girls Group II category, returned later in the evening to claim gold in the 200m butterfly event.Basavanagudi Aquatic Centre’s Ridhima, who was in fine form during the junior Nationals last year, continued her run, bagging the 100m backstroke event in a record time of 1:04.60, erasing the 1:05.71 mark she clocked during the heats earlier in the day.
