BENGALURU: In a repeat of last year’s title clash, Karnataka again failed to overcome Railways in the Senior Women’s One-Day Trophy. In Ranchi on Tuesday, Railways registered a four-wicket victory to annex their 14th title and third on the trot.

Chasing Karnataka’s modest total of 163, Railways endured a wobble before winning with 15 balls to spare. Invited to bat, Karnataka found their spearhead in Divya G (69, 116b, 7x4). Prathyusha C (21) too chipped in but none of the other batters got a start. For Railways, left-arm pacer Tanuja Kanwar picked up three wickets while the experienced spin duo of Preeti Bose and Swagatika Rath collected two wickets apiece.

In reply, Railways lost Nuzhat Parween in the opening over but stabilised thereafter. Karnataka were in with a chance when Railways loss three quick wickets and were reduced to 65/4. But Tanusree Sarkar (25), Hemalatha D (38 n.o) and Tanuja Kanwer (31) saw the team through.

For Karnataka, Shreyanka Patil was the pick among the bowlers with a three-wicket haul.

Brief scores: Karnataka: 163 all out in 49.4 overs (Divya G 69; Preeti Bose 2-22, Swagatika Rath 2-38, Tanuja Kanwer 3-26) lost to Railways: 169/6 in 47.3 overs (Mona 29, Tanusree Sarkar 25, D Hemalatha 38n.o, Tanuja Kanwer 31; Shreyanka Patil 3-45).
