Public prosecutor caught taking Rs 5,000 bribe in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: Lokayukta police trapped and arrested a public prosecutor (PP) after she accepted a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a man in her office at the City Civil and Sessions Court Monday afternoon.
The accused PP is Savitha Naveen Patil, 55, serving in CCH-54 court.
According to Lokayukta officials, a 40-year-old Banashankari resident approached them alleging the PP had demanded a bribe for submitting objections in a rape case registered at Chennammanakere Achukattu police station in the last week of April. The complainant told police his wife was allegedly raped by an acquaintance. The case is still under investigation by jurisdictional police.
Following verification of the complaint, Lokayukta officials registered a case under Section 7(a) of Prevention of Corruption Act and trapped Savitha while accepting the money.
