Chief minister Jagadish Shettar on Tuesday told the assembly that the government was taking measures to generate power out of dry waste generated in Bangalore city.

BELGAUM: Chief minister Jagadish Shettar on Tuesday told the assembly that the government was taking measures to generate power out of dry waste generated in Bangalore city.
In a written reply to Congress MLA NL Narendra Babu, he stated that units would be started in Mandur and Mavallipura.
Shettar said: “The process of waste segregation is hampered because of Bangaloreans’ lack of awareness.

We are finding out a way to segregate wet and dry waste,” he noted.
AB Maalaka Raddi (Congress) took exception to the collection of tax on processing of solid waste in the revenue layouts in and around Bangalore. His point was that it was not fair to collect tax when the government had not provided any amenities. The CM promised to take steps to provide amenities.
