Work in full swing after long delays

After being stuck for nearly eight years due to contractor disputes, missed deadlines, and technical hurdles, the Ejipura Flyover project is finally moving forward at full speed. Officials say about 60% of the construction is already complete and that the project is now progressing faster than at any point since work first began in 2017. (Photo credits: X/@DKShivakumar)

Elevated corridor to ease Koramangala–Ejipura traffic

The 2.5-km-long Ejipura Flyover, when completed, will connect Ejipura Main Road (Inner Ring Road junction) to Kendriya Sadan Junction. Designed as an elevated corridor, the project aims to ease the severe traffic congestion that plagues the Koramangala–Ejipura stretch and reduce travel time for thousands of daily commuters. BBMP sets new completion target for June 2026

BBMP engineers have set a new completion target of June 2026 for the Ejipura Flyover, even as the Deputy Chief Minister has pushed for an earlier finish. Contract revived after multiple setbacks

The project initially awarded to Simplex Infrastructure in 2017 ran into multiple setbacks and delays. After completing just 42% of the work in five years, the company’s contract was terminated in March 2022. Hyderabad-based BSCPCL Pvt Ltd took over in November 2023, with a revised cost of ₹176 crore and a strict 15-month deadline.

70 pillars complete; ramp and loop construction underway

Chief Engineer Raghavendra Prasad of BBMP confirmed that 70 out of 84 pillars have been erected and that ramp construction on the Madiwala–Ejipura side is progressing swiftly. A dedicated loop towards Sarjapur Road is also being built to streamline vehicle movement and minimize congestion at junctions.

Signal-free corridor to transform city commute

Once operational, the Ejipura Flyover is expected to make seven major junctions signal-free, cutting down commute times significantly. The corridor will serve as a key relief route for daily travelers navigating between Koramangala, Ejipura, and Madiwala — among the city’s most congested traffic zones.

Final land acquisition and green clearance in progress

One of the final challenges for the project remains the acquisition of 5,999 sq. metres of land near St. John’s Medical College. BBMP is in talks with the hospital authorities to resolve the issue soon. The civic body has also begun transplanting 30–40 trees along the alignment, balancing infrastructure needs with environmental care.
