New Year Awards presented

udupi: the new year award 2002 for exemplary service in their respective fields were given to retired civil servant from bihar ias cadre n.d.j. rao, former chairman of the syndicate bank, p.s.v. mallya, and industrialists and social workers kepul dinesh nayak and b. ganapathy pai here on wednesday. the awards were given under the joint auspices of academy of general education, manipal, syndicate bank and rotary club udupi-manipal.best farmer award: ``solutions to rural problems should be found in villages and farm exchange clubs founded by syndicate agriculture and rural development foundation must play a lead role in this respect,'' said k. k. pai, former chairman of syndicate bank and president of the foundation. the best farmer award sponsored by the foundation was presented to a.g. kodgi recently. the award consisted of a silver plaque and citation. pai lauded kodgi's contribution to agriculture and other fields.
