Bengaluru: The final electoral roll for upcoming elections to 5 city corporations under Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has pegged the electorate at around 88.95 lakh voters, setting the stage for elections in 369 wards across the city.
From the previous draft list published on March 9, which stood at 88.92 lakh voters, the count has increased by 2,833 voters in the final list published Saturday.
The electorate comprises around 45.7 lakh men, 43.2 lakh women, and 1,635 others, with over 8,023 polling stations mapped across the city. The polling stations from the draft 8,044 have been reduced to 8,023 in the final list.
The revision process, which began in early Jan, included multiple stages, from draft publication and inviting objections twice to final corrections, to eliminate duplication or errors in the rolls.
Ward-wise data indicates notable variation in voter strength, with some wards recording significantly higher electorate than others. Subramanyapura ward of South City Corporation has the highest number at 53,660 voters, while Vijayanagar ward continues to have the fewest voters at 12,897.
Election machinery will now shift focus to poll scheduling and logistics. Citizens have been encouraged to verify their details, through the official gba.karnataka.gov.in/home website or designated help centres.
Authorities have also enabled ward-level access to voter lists.
Maheshwar Rao, chief election officer, said, "If there are any mapping issues within wards, we will rectify them accordingly."
