Bangalore: It was a day of celebration for KSRTC, which is otherwise engrossed in running and coordinating buses from all corners of the state. On Tuesday, its revenue hit a record Rs 7.14 crore per day and got a well-deserved pat on the back by transport minister R Ashok. KSRTC also launched a fleet of 30 Airavath Volvo buses with latest features and an integrated KSRTC-BMTC daily bus pass for rural commuters.
The new buses have four emergency exits and one emergency door on the right-hand side, an LCD TV, mobile and laptop chargers at every alternate seat and more luggage space.

The buses will ply from Bangalore to Chennai, Virajpet, Shimoga, Kozhikode, Pune, Shirdi, Mumbai, Thiruvananthapuram, Bellary, Hyderabad and Ernakulam as well as Mangalore to Mumbai-Borivili, Hyderabad and Pune, and from Mysore to Bangalore.
"It's a great moment for KSRTC. The previous record was Rs 6.72 crore. The new buses have made travel across the state even more comfortable. We'll introduce many more of these buses to cover the entire state," said Ashok. A control room to monitor Kempegowda terminal was also inaugurated. Other big terminals are likely to be monitored soon.
"This is done to keep an eye on anti-social elements and emergencies," said KSRTC chief manager (marketing) Nagaraj Rao.
