energy department
aims to reduce
maintenance schedules
and introduce
Distribution Automation System
(DAS) to prevent long hours of power cuts.
On Tuesday, H Nagesh, director (technical), Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) said: “We are aiming to eradicate constraints in the system and have taken up the implementation of DAS. We will install prepaid metering system for major consumers.“Electricity supply companies (

) spend Rs 3 crore annually on repairing infrastructure. This was revealed during the annual meeting of
Karnataka Electricity Board
(KEB) engineers' association on Tuesday.
“We are striving to reduce and control power distribution losses. In doing so, about 60% of revenue losses can be reduced. Every year, we spend around Rs 3 crore for repairs. We promise around 12,000 megawatt of power supply by 2020, without any power cuts,“ said A N Jayaraj, president of KEB engineers' association.
