BANGALORE: The Kannada DevelopmentAuthority (KDA) has directed district and taluk officials to compulsorilydiscuss the issue of Kannada usage in administration, at the monthly KarnatakaDevelopment Plan (KDP) meetings.
According to a press release from KDAchairman Baraguru Ramachandrappa on Saturday, the authority has directed theheads of various departments in taluks and district level to submit a report inthe first week of every month in this regard. The zilla and taluk panchayatschiefs and the district-level officers of the Kannada and culture departmentwill monitor the implementation of the KDA''s directive, the releasesaid.
The KDA has empowered the zilla panchayats CEOs to initiatedisciplinary action against officials who fail to use Kannada in theirday-to-day administration, the release added.
