Kannada novelist SL Bhyrappa to be a part of Jaipur literature festival 2017

BENGALURU: The

Jaipur Literature Festival

(JLF) 2017 recently announced that noted

Kannada novelist SL Bhyrappa

would be participating in the 10th edition of the signature literary event.

, Bhyrappa is counted among the foremost novelists in the country with a robust following in India as well as the

United States of America

.

The author of over 24 books, some of his well-known works include Parva, Vamshavruksha, Daatu, Nayi Neralu and Aavarana. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2016. He was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Fellowship in 2015. The Padma Shri was conferred on him early this year.

The announcement of his presence at the JLF was released through the festival's 10@10- weekly announcements, where starting October 18, names of ten participating speakers are revealed every Tuesday at 6pm.

The last announcement will be made on December 20. Other prominent names who will be accompanying SL Bhyrappa at the festival are renowned writers Alice Walker, Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, Vikram Chandra, Swanand Kirkire, Tahmima Anam, Roberto Calasso and Narendra Kohli amongst others.

His will be the first time that the 85-year-old author will be taking part at JLF, which will be held from January 19-23, 2017 at Jaipur's historic Diggi Palace Hotel.
