History-sheeter who paraded a youth naked shot at

Bengaluru: City police shot at and injured a history-sheeter, who had stripped a youth and paraded him naked over a rivalry in July this year. Pavan Gowda, alias Kadubu of Rajagopalnagar, Bengaluru north, had even made a video of his attack and posted it on social media. The video had gone viral.Police records show that Gowda faces at least 12 criminal cases, including robbery.According to police, Gowda was hiding in a grove near Ullal, near Kengeri, and a team of police went to the place to apprehend him. However, he attacked the cops with a machete, and in self-defence, the cops shot him in his right knee and injured him.Earlier on Monday, the video showing Gowda threatening a youth to remove his clothes and forcing him to run naked on the pavements of Sunkadakatte in Kamakshipalya had gone viral, drawing criticism from netizens. While police started looking for him, the victim Rahul (name changed), lodged a complaint with Kamakshipalya police, stating that Gowda was angry with him, thinking that he (Rahul) had tipped off the police about him.Arrested in a robbery case in 2012, Gowda had jumped bail and refrained from attending court hearings. However, police had succeeded in tracing him near Tumakuru earlier this year and arrested him. "Gowda told his associates that Rahul had helped cops in getting him arrested. On July 4, they beat up Rahul near Sunkadakatte and forced him to run naked on the pavement. Rahul, after running for around 20 metres, had hidden himself behind a shop and pleaded with Gowda to return his clothes. Fearing him, Rahul had not filed a complaint," an investigating officer said.Meanwhile, Gowda went elusive after Rahul filed the complaint against him on Monday, and finally, cops traced him to the grove early Tuesday morning.
