BENGALURU: Four inmates of
Parappana Agrahara central prison
were shifted to the
jail hospital
late Monday night after a clash broke out earlier in the evening.
While three inmates are out of danger, an injured undertrial is in a serious condition and under observation, jail sources said.
Trouble begun around 7pm when Basavaraj, Chethan and Jagga alias KRS Jagga, all rowdy sheeters, reportedly objected to terror suspect Jaffer entering the temple with footwear.
Jaffer has been convicted for the Hubballi church blast case, while three others are facing trial in different cases. As a practice, inmates of

Diwali by offering puja in a temple built inside the jail. "There is a small temple near B Block and inmates were decorating it with flowers and arranging oil lamps for the puja. Jaffer, curious to see what was happening, entered the temple in his footwear," sources said.
Seeing Jaffer walking in, the trio asked him to leave his footwear outside. Irked, Jaffer told them to mind their business. "Jagga grew furious and shouted at Jaffer, and asked him to leave the premises at once. But Jaffer went back to his barracks, returned with his henchmen and attacked the trio," sources said.
Seeing this, the other inmates and jail officials rushed in and dispersed them. By then, Jagga, Chethan and Jaffer, who used utensils and puja items to fight each other, had injuries on their hands and legs. "Jaffer had hit Basavaraj on his head with a vessel, which resulted in a deep injury," sources added.
They were rushed to the jail hospital where doctors said if needed, they may shift Basavaraj either to
Victoria Hospital
or Nimhans.
