BENGALURU: The revenue officials in the Bengaluru urban district has cleared 43.2 acres of government land encroached by private individuals and builders worth Rs 126.25 crore in a joint operation in four taluks of the urban district on Saturday.
Deputy commissioner (Bengaluru urban) V Shankar said that the biggest tact of lake embankment to an extent of 30 acres worth Rs 60 crore cleared at Marasandra village survey No 45 near Hessarghatta, Bengaluru north taluk, was found encroached by private individuals.
The clearing of the encroached land was done with the help of Bengaluru Metropolitan Task Force (BMTF) and other revenue officials in the district.
Similarly 14 guntas of land worth Rs 15.26 crore was cleared in survey No 153 of Kacharakanahalli in Bengaluru north taluk, and in south taluk land measuring 1.37 acres in survey No 106 of grazing land worth Rs 1 crore government land was cleared in Chikkanahalli village of Tavarekere. Several tracts of lands worth Rs 50 crore was brought back to government custody in East taluk of the Bengaluru urban district which were encroached by builders and corporates besides private individuals, the official said.
