Former Bengaluru cop is security chief for Rio-bound Indian team

Gopal B Hosur, former IPS officer from Karnataka, has been nominated security adviser for the 119-member Indian contingent to the 2016 Rio Olympics, Brazil.

BENGALURU: Gopal B Hosur, former IPS officer from Karnataka, has been nominated security adviser for the 119-member Indian contingent to the 2016 Rio Olympics, Brazil.
This is the first time that an officer from the state has been entrusted with an assignment that involves overseeing security arrangements concerning Indian sportspersons. Hosur was selected by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and he will be leaving for Rio de Janeiro on Saturday.
Hosur said he will coordinate with the international police to ensure the Indian team's safety.
