Film producer brutally assaulted

Bangalore: A transport agent-turned-film producer was brutally attacked on Monday night after an altercation over a minor accident.
Producer of the Kannada movie `Holiday', M Santhosh Kumar was going back to his home on Horamavu Main Road in Banasawadi from his office in Vijayanagar around 11.45 pm. He was discussing the outdoor shooting of his film with office associates.
Near Lingarajapuram KEB Quarters, a car slammed into his car from behind.While driving, Santhosh Kumar had been talking with Hariprakash, the movie director in Sakaleshpur. The enraged Santhosh got down from the car and got into a heated argument with the driver of the other car. All along, Hariprakash was able to listen to the exchange.
Suddenly, two persons got down from that car and assaulted Santhosh brutally on his head and back. The critically injured producer fell to the ground. The attackers left the profusely bleeding Santhosh there and fled as they spotted an auto coming along. The director, who'd been listening to the fight, immediately informed his brother and Santhosh Kumar's family about the incident.
The auto driver who saw Santhosh informed the police patrol `Cheetah', whose personnel called the Hoysala police team and took the victim to Bowring Hospital. The victim was later shifted to Manipal Hospital. Though Santhosh sustained severe injuries, he is out of danger.
The police believe the attack may have been planned but are nevertheless investigating the case. Santhosh is reportedly involved in several businesses and his dabbling in films may have led to this incident.
Santhosh Kumar's wife Rekha Santhosh Kumar was briefed about the attack by the Frazer Town police. While he had a travel agency called Sumukha Transports, his Sumukha Combines handled movie production.
