Bengaluru: In a match of fluctuating fortunes, Sean Davis held his nerve to put it across former champion Yogesh Kumar M 4-3 to annex his maiden state ranking snooker title at the KSBA late on Saturday evening.
Davis started a trifle slow but got into the groove as the match wore on to take control of the best-of-seven-frame finale. Down 1-2 at one stage, the 36-year-old found his touch to take go up 3-2 to put the pressure back on Yogesh.
The Davanagere cueist made a brilliant charge in the sixth frame and pushed the issue to the decider. However, Davis, who had made the final once six years ago before losing to IH Manudev, kept his calm to keep Yogesh at bay. In a final bereft of big breaks, Davis, who came through the qualifying rounds, played the key points well to win the deciding frame 66-43 to cap his dream run with the winner’s trophy.
