Drunk showroom staffer drives SUV, injures man in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: A 22-year-old man working at a four-wheeler showroom in Mahadevapura was booked for driving an electric sports utility vehicle in an inebriated condition, damaging four four-wheelers and injuring a pedestrian.Abhilash is a staffer with Mahindra Showroom at Garudacharpalya. The incident took place on the evening of April 12, and Abhilash was hospitalised after angry passersby beat him up for the accident. After getting discharged Friday, Abhilash was summoned to Mahadevapura traffic police station and booked for driving under the influence of alcohol.Probe revealed that Abhilash assisted customers dropping into the showroom for test drives. "On that day, Abhilash was angry that he was not given the electric SUV, since he had consumed alcohol. When the showroom was closed and the staff were getting ready to leave, Abhilash took the keys and drove an electric SUV. However, he lost control of the vehicle after reaching the main road, rammed into four four-wheelers and injured a 31-year-old man who was walking near the pavement," an officer said.
